Transition Metals 

Element :  

Element is the collection of only one type of atom. There are a total of around 118 known elements. Based on their appearance, structure, physical and chemical properties of the elements, they are classified into three types: metals, non-metals, and metalloids.

In this classification as well, metals are classified into transition metals. Transition metals are metals that are present in the center of the periodic table

Properties like malleability, ductile nature, and conductivity are present in the transition metals as well. They are separated or grouped because of the complexity in the arrangement of the electrons in their shells.

We know that the electrons revolve around the nucleus of an atom. These electrons are held in a particular path called the orbit or the shell of the atom. The arrangement of the number of electrons in each shell is specific. But in the case of the transition metals, the arrangement is complex and such elements are present in the center of the periodic table.  

This arrangement of the electron complexity makes the wide range of the physical and chemical properties of the metals.

The elements that possess the magnetic nature are iron, cobalt, and nickel. Metals like gold, silver do not have the property of corrosion.  

The spread of the transition metals in the periodic table is wide. A total of 10 groups are covered. But these metals share the properties among the periods.
