What is an Attributive Noun?

  • Sports car
  • Prom Queen
  • Governmnet Official
  • Nursery school
  • Book store
  • Marriage certificate
  • In all these examples, the first noun acts as adjective and modifies the second noun.

  • It is not just any certificate. It is a ‘Marriage’ certificate.
