Letters of the Alphabet and Capital letters
There are 26 letters in the English alphabet.
They make different sounds.
These letters are written in two ways.
Capital letters are written as follows:
A B C D E F G H I J K L M N O P Q R S T U V W X Y Z
Small letters are written as follows:
a b c d e f g h i j k l m n o p q r s t u v w x y z
Capital letters
Capitalization means writing the first letter of a word in capital letter.
Capital letters are used:
To capitalize the first word in a sentence.
For example:
- She sings well.
To capitalize proper nouns like names of people, days of the week, months of the year, streets, cities, and holidays.
For example:
- Mary is going to California.
To capitalize the letter I in a sentence.
For example:
- May I come in?
