Onomatopoeia
Words that strive to imitate sounds are called onomatopoeia.
Examples:
- The bang of a gun The buzz of a bee
- The hiss of a snake The pop of a firecracker
Onomatopoeia is when words’ sound resembles the sound which it is describing.
Onomatopoeia is a form of symbolism in sound.
Onomatopoeia words are great ways to describe how a person sounds when they talk.
Onomatopoeia words describe elements sounds, animal sounds & movement, human sounds or actions.
