Past Participle
The simple past tense is used to present or describe an event or occurrence that has happened or existed in the past. The situations or conditions to use a simple past tense is to:
- Present an action, event, or condition that occurred in the past or at a given specific time.
- Refer to or present an action that has been completed with no time mentioned.
- Present or refer to an action or occurrence of an event which done repeatedly and regularly.
- Refer to a state of mind in the past or a feeling that was felt in the past.
- Refer to somebody who has died.
- Describe events that have occurred in rapid succession in the past.
There are four past tense forms in English:
- Past simple: I walked.
- Past continuous: I was walking.
- Past perfect: I had walked.
- Past perfect continuous: I had been walking.
