Noun and Proper Noun
- A noun is a naming word used as the name of a person, place or thing.
- Common Noun: A noun refers to a person, place, or thing in general.
- The class is studying grammar.
- The rich should care for the poor.
- The boy is running on a street.
Proper Noun
It represents the name of a specific person, place, or thing.
Proper nouns are always written with a capital letter at the beginning.

Oxford School a high school
- The most common proper nouns are names, as of people, places, or events.

General Rules
“the” is not used with names of people.
- Abraham Lincoln
- Bill Gates
- Steve Jobs
Do not use “the” with names of companies. [ Except If the full (registered) name of a company starts with “The”]

“the” is not used with “Lake/Mount + Name”

Use “the” for names of canals, rivers, seas and oceans
